Dan Kass wins Burton U.S. Superpipe Open

Going into the U.S. Open,
Dan stated he didn't have
any lofty expectations of
how his performance
would turn out. He just
wanted to have fun and
perform well.
This laissez-faire
attitude is the exact
reason why Dan Kass
won his record
breaking 5th Burton U.S.
Open title. Maybe it was the fact that
Dan was wearing Michael Jordan's
infamous Number 23. Or it could be that
Dan is still having fun competing against
groms that are teenagers. Whatever the
recipe for success is, he definitely has
a grasp on the remedy to perform at
the highest level without feeling the
pressure. Pressure bust pipes, and
Dan is like Cool hand Luke when it
comes to pressure.
.
At this stage in his career, other
factors come into play. He's running
a mega-grass roots company called
Grenade gloves. There's photo shoot's,
sessions for snowboarding movies,
and making sure his younger riders
keep that same drive and
determination that he has to win.
If they're not successful and aren't
winning any contest or on the cover
of snowboarding magazine, or getting
articles written on them by, you
guessed it me, then
they are has been's.
This business is no different than any
other. It's what have you done lately.
.
The one factor that makes Dan stand
out from the crowd is the fact that he's
not a follower, he's a leader. Other
boarders bite his style and swagger,
cause you have to go after the top
dog if you wanna make a name for
yourself. Yo, I'm feeling the fact
that dude's made up the FRENDS
group, but if it wasn't for Grenade
there wouldn't be any FRENDS.
.
As long as he keeps beating at his
own drum and his organization
doesn't conform to the NORM,
Grenade will stand out from the
crowd and kids will still be buying
Grenade gloves, Grenade
snowboarding gear,etc.......
when Dan's 50+ years
old.
