While the temperature was frigid outside during this
epic snowboarding event, the action was vivacious
at this New York City showcase.
.
.
All of the heavy hitters came out to participate at this
event. You had Shaun White,Terje Haakonsen, and
Jack Mitrani. Although there were a few no shows
such as Kevin Pearce and Kazuhiro Kokubo, the
field was none the less spectacular. I was looking
forward to seeing a show down between Kevin
Pearce and Shaun, but that will have to happen
at another time.
.
.
The crowd was amped up from the practice
sessions until the start of the quarter-finals.
This was a once in a lifetime chance for some
native New Yorkers to see their favorite
Snowboarder up close and personal. There
were a few knuckle heads in the crowd. They
were screaming d_ck head and other profanity
at Shaun White. The problem arose when Shaun
walked away on a 10 year old and didn't sign an
autograph. Listen in the Belly of the Beast, Kat's
don't care who you are, they will scream on you
for something small.
.Many fans fail to realize that snowboarders are
actually in a (zone) complete focus when they
are about to compete or are doing their runs.
Any little disturbance can throw them off. All
was forgiven when Shaun was knocked out
of the later rounds and went over to hi-five
fans while also signing snowboards.
You can check out the event on NBC
tomorrow at 5pm eastern time.
