Mountain Creek NJ..............Dan Kass

Mount Creek is where I learned how to snowboard.
It's not the biggest mountain in the World. As a matter
of fact, the elevation isn't great
at all, however it has one
of the best terrain parks for snowboarders on the
East Coast. Although my
first love is surfing, I cannot
begin to tell you the adrenaline
rush you get from flying down a hill between
30-50 mph. The biggest difference with
snowboarding is you get to enjoy the ride
much longer than with surfing. The one
thing that surfing enables you to experience
is another world within the universe and that's
the almighty Ocean. Just image all the positive
energy that culminates by being in a massive
ocean that brings joy and misery all at the same
time. Everyone loves going to the beach and
getting in the Ocean, and people are always amazed why
sharks attack humans. Well we are invading their World and
we have no control over the outcome.
.
Snowboarding is a little more forgiving, however it can be just
as fatal. I can recall going to an event in Lake Placid NY and a
snowboarder over shot a jump while competing in the border-
cross event. The wind propelled his body up into the heaven
and his body came crashing down. Unfortunately he
died.
.
Xtreme sports are just that EXTREME. However Type-A
personality individuals thrive off the energy they get from
performing new tricks or jumping heights Evil Kenevil never
even dreamed about. The sports continue to progress and
it keeps many kids out of trouble. Although surfing and
snowboarding has seen limited super stardom with minorities,
They have progressed fairly well with skateboarding which
is less expensive and has more urban appeal. There's only
so many brother that are going to be basketball players, so
if a kid has an opportunity to make a living doing something
they love while endorsing clothing apparel and other items,
then let the flood gates open.
.
There are going to be many changes within the U.S. and
Internationally. Fortunately there may just be a minority or
two owning an Xtreme sports company and giving all kids
opportunity's to become the next Shaun White.
Much prop's goes out to Dan Kass and his Grenade crew.
Dan has kept it real and didn't conform to the norm.
He ventured out and made his own path in the Industry
and then hired his friends to be apart of his company that's
owned by him and his brother.
.
Mountain Creek would just be a small time ski slope if it wasn't
for some of the accomplishments that Dan has made while
snowboarding. Sponsors have had a few major contest held
at the Resort, and now it's owned by IntraWest which has made
it a top winter recreational center for the NYC tri-state area.
This is one mountain that you will find every nationality
imaginable their on a weekend day. If your ever in Northwest
New Jersey, check out this cool spot that Dan Kass personally
put on the map.
