West Oak Lane welcomes Ashford & Simpson

The weather was perfect. The atmosphere was electrifying and the
headliners tore the roof off the mother sucker. For the second day,
Philly came alive with old time hospitality,
reminiscent of the 70's and 80's when Block party's were
the rage in Philly.
With the onslaught of violence in the city, block party's are
nonexistent. Communities can't risk anything bad happening.
This would bring down their property value and tarnish
the names of some non-violent communities in Philly.
West Oak Lane has taken a chance and has succeeded for the
the most part. When your able to bring in top headliners such
as War, Pieces of a dream, the O'jays, and Ashford&Simpson, your
doing something for a city that's taken it's beating for bad media
publicity over the past few years. Philly is a music town
that loves their oldies but goodies, hip-hop,
jazz, and rock. The influx of rappers will begin to tell you how
talented Philly is. Will Smith has single handily put Philly on
the map Internationally. So it's important for us as local Philly people
and the surrounding areas to let the West Oak Lane Jazz festival
thrive.
Unfortunately everyone can't be
happy and economically every local West Oak Lanian
is asking, when am I going to get some of this
money from the thousands of people flooding their neighborhood for
a week. This is a question that I'm sure will come up, however this
is a positive win,win situation for the community of West Oak
Lane, and Philly. We need good publicity.
